The only project that I am on that uses tests has a pretty simply unit test framework, and the tests can be run through pretty easily.

At a company that I do IT work for, they use Cruise Control, which does the builds, as well as run all of the tests, all automated. It seems like these solutions are better, at least for those tests which don't need human testers, which seems to account for most of the tests.

What is alternate Open source for Test Director ?

Please let me know on the following queries :

I installed TestDirector 7.2 on XP Pro Edition.
I did tried all the steps you said but still didn't work iam getting the same Error:
Error in parameter: [TDsrvURL]
Error: Server is not initialized
Press OK to continue or CANCEL to close application.
So please help me out.
Steps I followed:
(go to the IIS Manager and the TDBIN directory, then choose directory security (make sure it is on anonymous access only) and edit the anonymous user to be the local Administrator account (type in the password).
Then try accessing your server again. If this works, then you know it is a permissions issue, and you should probably go change the anonymous user back to the IUSR_XXXX account, and fix the directory/NTFS permissions to allow the IUSR_XXX user access to the necessary Test Director directories.)

I Look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
I did a couple weeks ago, and it is horrible. In order to use it, you have to maintain two build systems, that it isn't smart enough to use the .dsp files for DevStudio.

What we now use is the PCLI language to get the files out of PVCS, and then a custom-built Perl script to run Microsoft's command line.

As a side-note, another perl script can be used interactively inside of Epsilon, for those of you who care about such things.

I have not installed it on XP, but I wouldn't expect 2000 to be all that different, at least in terms of the permissions.

For the directory permissions, you just need to set them as you would any directory, giving read and write to the IIS user. You should be able to search the internet for explicit instructions on how to set permissions appropriately, so it probably isn't worth my time to write those instructions.

Also, note some lines in the README:
